Burung Merak or PeaCock

Peacock is Pavo cristatus and family can be found in the Indian Peafowl hutan.Populasi spread in open forest with grasslands in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan. Previously this species was found also in Bangladesh, but now most likely extinct there.The word peacock actually refers to the male bird (peafowls), while females are peahens, and the young are peachicks Peafowl are included in the scientific classification:
Peacock is one of the largest bird species. They attract the attention of people around the world. This majestic bird does not migrate. Peacock is mainly divided into three categories-the most common among them are Indian Peafowl, Green Peafowl, White Peacock.



Indian Peafowl has a shiny dark blue feathers. Large adult male birds, can reach 230cm in length, cover with very long tails of metallic green. Overhead there is a blue upright crest forming a fan. Female birds are smaller than male birds. Feathers not glossy, greenish brown with black stripes and without a lid decorated with feather tails. The young birds like Peacock female.
Peafowl is a polygamous species, have more than one spouse. In the breeding season, male birds show off their tail feathers in front of a female bird. Tail feathers cover is opened to form fan-shaped eyes with blue spots. Bird female usually lays three to six eggs.
 Mythology Peacock

Peafowl are omnivorous, eating grasses and seeds as well as small snakes and lizards as well. In India, the peacock is associated with the all seeing the sun and in Greek mythology is 'eyespots' was said to be a hundred eyes giant Argos. When the rainy season came, peacocks, dancing in the rain, enchanting all with elegant feathers, forming a spectacular view.

Rainbow Peacock
Peacock females may lay eggs only once a year, or several times a year. Peacock female will lay more eggs, more often, so keep the noise and activity around the nest, if you want to have a hatch peacock eggs as well. Peacock female will leave the nest if she feels that too much commotion. Also, remember that nest egg will be attractive to animals such as raccoons and ferrets. One raccoon could destroy nest eggs peahen within a very short time.
